‘Baby safe’ project needs help to buy premises
The metro as well as other organisations and institutions were approached but there were no available premises suitable for the shelter
LIFE Link Pregnancy Crisis Centre is in need of help to purchase a property from which to run their “baby safe” concept.
Last year, EXPRESS published an article regarding the envisioned “baby safe”, which would act as a life-giving solution to mothers of unwanted babies. This would be an alternative to abandonment.
“Initially, a property had been identified and plans had been implemented to get the premises ready for the shelter. Unfortunately, these premises are no longer available,” Sharon Rushton, founder and centre director, explained.

Rushton further elaborated that they then approached the metro as well as other organisations and institutions but there were no available premises suitable for the shelter.
“We have now identified a house that is for sale and it would be ideal as a baby shelter and offices. It is in good condition and has ample space for the intended need. The cost of the house is R1.5 million.”
However, the organisations cannot afford this on their own.
“We are appealing to anyone, private or corporate, who can help in the purchase of the property to get in contact with us.”
