Business Chamber started

Tembisa entrepreneurs get hands-on mentorship.

On March 4 Tembisa entrepreneurs and business owners came out in numbers to witness the official launch of the Business Chamber, a new division under Joseph Achievers Mentoring (JAM) programme.

“I established this business chamber for Tembisa businesses following countless individual telephone calls I was getting from The Tembisan readers who read my weekly column, Entrepreneurs’ Brew. The feedback from readers of The Tembisan has been great and truly encouraging; however, the gap was hands-on support to these business owners,” said Pastor Dlalisa.

“This was a very special day for entrepreneurs and business owners across Tembisa. JAM now comprises two chambers, namely a student chamber and the business chamber. The business chamber gives practical, hands-on business support, guidance, mentoring and training in order to help emerging entrepreneurs to move their businesses to new heights.”

The event was an entrepreneurs’ conference meant for entrepreneurs needing to bridge that hands-on business support gap.

“I encourage entrepreneurs to use one another’s services and support each other’s businesses locally here in Tembisa,” said Pastor WTM Dlalisa.

Pastor Dlalisa said the broader vision of the Business Chamber is to bring well established black business owners and entrepreneurs together with emerging ones, with the sole purpose of skills transfer and mentoring.

The conference took place in Entshonalanga section and had at least 15 entrepreneurs present. Their businesses involve a range of disciplines in various sectors including construction, engineering, marketing, training, retail, service, branding, catering and hospitality.

All businesses that attended are black-owned and run by black youth.

At the conference Pastor Dlalisa explained and clarified the long-term vision of the Business Chamber, including its structures and management.

All business entrepreneurs who attended also completed membership forms. Membership of JAM is free and it is a voluntary association.

“Membership forms make allowance for entrepreneurs to indicate their three areas where they need the most support. The Business Chamber will have meetings every second week on Saturday afternoons at no 532 Entshonalanga Section, Tembisa.”

Pastor Dlalisa said in order to ensure greater impact and achieve results, the Business Chamber will take only up to 100 business owners and entrepreneurs into JAM 2017.
