KALEIDEO Church Woman’s Ministry, under the guidance of Beninca Steyn, hosted a successful event aimed at raising awareness on how to abolish modern-day slavery.

Cornel Viljoen from head office Cape Town A21, addressed 350 woman who gathered at the church on March 14.

Also in attendance were Refiloe Nt’sekhe, national DA spokesperson, representatives from the Democratic Alliance Women’s Network (DAWN), Jaco Terblanche, DA ward councillor and many of Kaleideo’s church members.

Information, statistics and action plans on how to combat human trafficking in Kempton Park were shared with the audience.

Steyn, the A21 team leader for Kempton Park, is taking hands with government officials and organisations in Kempton Park to help fight this crime.

She will be hosting a training event with A21 staff in May for government officials, community leaders, public service members and the police, with the aim of creating an action plan to implement in the city.

A21 is a non-profit organisation fuelled by the hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage.

“We are the abolitionists of the 21st century and work to free slaves and disrupt the demand,” Steyn said.
