Kempton SAPS station commander calls it a day

'Keep Kempton’s flag flying high'

“KEEP on flying Kempton’s flag high and continue being the best police station.”

These were Kempton Police Station Commander Brig Bertha Kgoroba’s final words to Kempton’s police officers as she said her final goodbyes.

She was speaking at her farewell party held at Emperor’s Palace on Friday.

KEMPTON SAPS staff members came in their numbers to bid farewell to their station commander.

During an emotional speech, she said she knew she was leaving the station in safe hands.

“During my time here I worked with a very dedicated group of police officers and I know I am leaving the police station with capable leaders. I am going to miss you all.”

Vispol Head Col Steven Moodley described her leadership as always being hands on, saying she always guided them and took care of them.

“She always knew what was going on in her policing area,” Moodley said.

The police spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said the station had a great leader in Kgoroba and since her arrival the morale of the staff had been uplifted.

“Although we are sad she is leaving, her legacy will remain and the hard work she invested in the station will be evident in our work,” Mtshali concluded.

Kgoroba will be venturing off to focus on her farming business as well as furthering her studies.

“Next time you see me you will be calling me ‘Professor’,” she teased the police staff.
