The Rotary Foundation is the primary source of funding for Rotary’s humanitarian activities, from clubs’ and districts’ local service projects to global initiatives.

It also leads Rotary’s ongoing effort to eradicate polio worldwide and is able to achieve its mission through the generous contributions and active participation of Rotarians and friends of Rotary.

How much humanitarian work is funded by The Rotary Foundation around the world?

Looking at the last fiscal year, the foundation distributed over $25.5 million in district grants, which are used to fund smaller-scale projects that are short-term but nevertheless important to the immediate needs of communities.

Rotary clubs and districts use these grants to address local needs, typically, but can also be put to use in international projects. Almost every district in the Rotary world applied for and received a district grant last year, and these are usually distributed to clubs that have submitted a worthy project for funding.

The demand for funding continues to increase, with the number of approved grants increasing 10 per cent over the previous year.
