Special children thank a special doctor
All these children are on life-saving immune treatment
A group of thankful parents hosted a small get-together earlier this month to thank a Kempton Park paediatrician for the treatment their children received from him.
Dr Jannie de Witt has been treating these families’ children who all suffer from immune system problems.
“Dr De Witt has been a paediatrician for many years and has helped many children.
“To many parents and children he is a hero,” said Chantelle Olivier, one of the mothers.
Her daughters Danielle and Danika have been on life-saving treatment the past 10 years. They suffer from an immune deficiency and are treated with a special blood product.
On April 8 some of the families gathered together and surprised De Witt with a breakfast at Goodies for Gardens to say thank you for all he had done over so many years. De Witt’s wife Linda, Sr Estelle Botha of the paediatrics ward at Arwyp and his secretary, Ronel van Deventer, were also present.
“This doctor has given so much of his time and dedication to all his patients, always willing to help. No matter what time of the day it is, he is always available. We have never met a doctor with so much passion for sick children. He goes out of his way to help them,” Olivier said.
Cole Johnson has been in treatment for seven years, Bart and Martin Wessels five years and Aiden da Silva three years, Anché Stróh and Aliahanna Shamsoodeen started their journey on immune treatment two months ago.
