‘Consider being an entrepreneur and create job opportunities for others,’ college principal
NEARLY 800 Ekurhuleni West TVET College graduates packed the Transnet hall at Esselen Park on May 26 to be honoured for studies completed.
Graduates were from all six campuses of Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC).
The speaker, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, together with the college council chairperson, Dr Mpho Mohlala, emphasised the importance of thinking entrepreneurship in their messages to graduates.
Top achieving students were recognised with special awards ranging from technological gadgets to monetary prizes from various sponsors.
The overall top achievers were:
National diploma in business studies: Mimi Sekokotla
National diploma in engineering studies: Mdaka Justice
National certificate (vocational): Nonhlanhla Mtshali

College principal Hellen Ntlatleng attributed the success of the students to sacrifices and support from their parents together with organs of society, inclusive of financial backers at large, by creating an efficient learning environment.
In her welcoming address, Mohlala said: “This instrument called education changes lives, it’s a tool that could help you erase the uninformed divisions of race, gender, inequality and culture.
“I urge you to use it profitably, use it to change your situation around, to change your family background and that of your community. Use it to help SA realise the 2030 vision set out in the national development plan which aims to eliminate the treble challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality.”
She added: “Note that you may find yourself unemployed given the economic challenges our country is facing. Let this not hold you back, face the challenge head on and buttress your way through using the skills acquired.
“Consider being an entrepreneur and create job opportunities for others. The college has a centre for entrepreneurship which is available for your use to empower yourselves with entrepreneurial education.”
