Members of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) together with their crime intelligence unit arrested six suspects on the evening of July 21 at Moedi Section, for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, a house break-in, possession of two unlicensed firearms and 27 rounds of ammunition.

Ekurhuleni North Cluster Communication Officer, Capt Neldah Sekgobela, said the suspects might also be linked to a series of cases including bank followings in Kempton Park and car hijackings in Olifantsfontein and Klipfontein.
“JMPD Members were executing their duties in Tembisa when they spotted a suspicious Honda Ballade car with two occupants inside.
They made an inquiry on it which revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Sebenza this month. An unlicensed firearm was also found in possession of the suspects,” said Sekgobela.

She said from the information gathered from those two suspects, the JMPD members managed to go further and arrest the other four suspects wherein another unlicensed firearm was confiscated with ammunition.
