Ivory Park community gets donations

Tswelelane Development united with African Bank is committed to ease the plight of the poor community.

‘Ubuntu’ is a virtue that constitutes many charity drives aimed at building the strongest of communities in Southern Africa.

On July 15, Tswelelane Development united with African Bank to extend a helping hand to the community of Ivory Park by distributing donations.

The Tswelelane Development is a non-profit organisation based in Ivory Park in Midrand, which aims at changing the lives of vulnerable and underprivileged community members, including the disabled, orphans, abused children and the elders.

Tswelelane Development`s Managing director, Lehlogonolo Dibakoane said they believed that charity shouldn’t end at home where it begins, but rather act as a starting point for greater deeds.

Tswelelane Development team help elderly and disabled beneficiaries.

“It was a very special day for the Tswelelane Development team, We were honoured to see a great example of how one small deed can go a long way.”

After receiving a generous donation of clothes from African Bank, the Tswelelane team decided to share their blessing with the community of Ivory Park.

The best way the Tswelelane team could share the clothes with the community was through a ceremony, which resulted in more than 90 people receiving goodie bags.

The community members comprised 50 elders and 40 youth who received not only a suit, but T-shirts as well,” said Dibakoane.

Lehlogonolo said the Tswelelane team members were happy as it was the first time they had received a donation of new clothes to give to the community.

Beneficiaries of the charity drive enjoyed food as well

Zusiphe Hlanekela, who is also part of the Tswelelane Development team, said she volunteers to inspire others to do the same. She hopes sharing the donation with the youth will inspire them also, to share the little they have with others who might be more disadvantaged than they are.

“African Bank has been working with Tswelelane Bakery since 2009 and we would like to be involved with Tswelelane Development in the future,” said Kennedy Dembetembe from African Bank.

“The event took place at the Tswelelane Bakery which houses Tswelelane Development situated in Ivory Park, Midrand,” said Dibakoane.
