Modderfontein Golden Oldies make 100th birthday special
Over the past 11 years they have raised more than R500 000 which has enabled them to help many deserving people
MODDERFONTEIN Golden Oldies hockey team hosted a party for a resident of Gerald Fitzpatrick House in Bertrams, Ester Huth, on July 1 to celebrate her 100th birthday. The Golden Oldies and some wives visited the house and took along cake, snacks and drinks for the 84 residents of the home. This included a birthday cake for Ester as well as gifts, 100 cupcakes and liquid refreshments for all.
“Every year we run a golf day to raise funds so we can assist people who need wheelchairs or any other medical assistance, or provide assistance to families or organisations in need of support. This is what enabled the Golden Oldies to lay on a spread for this special celebration,” Shen Reid said.
“It was very rewarding for the Golden Oldies to see the gratitude shown by the residents of the home.”
Over the past 11 years they have raised more than R500 000, which has enabled them to help many deserving people.
“We will continue our efforts to assist those in need for as long as we can,” Reid added.
