OVER 1 000 bikers will hit the road on a bike run on Women’s Day in support of rape and abuse victims.
Adullam Biker Ecclesia, a bikers’ church in Boksburg, will be raising funds for the Epic Foundation, an organisation that provides support to, and empowers, survivors of rape and abuse.
The bikers will ride around various areas in Ekurhuleni, starting from Brakpan and ending in Boksburg, where there will be entertainment for the whole family including food and craft stalls, jumping castles for the kids as well as live music.
Badges will be on sale for R20 each at the venue in order to raise funds for the organisation.
People can also make donations that will go towards toiletry kits for rape survivors. The items that can be donated include: shampoo, soap, face cloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, pocket tissues, lip balms and combs.
There will be collection points at various stops during the run.
The route for the run is as follows: the run will begin at 7am at the AM Fireplace (Old UFO) in Brakpan. Then the bikers will move to the Engen garage on Comaro Street by the N12, then to the BP garage on the N1, then proceed to the Caltex garage on New Road in Midrand. From there the team will go to the Highveld Engen 1 Stop on the R21 in Kempton and from there will move to their destination at The Zone in Boksburg.
