National UCMAS maths competition in Kempton

It is a day of fun and enjoyment to crown the UCMAS math champion of 2017

UCMAS South Africa will host its 10th national maths competition in Kempton Park on August 19.

UCMAS is a full brain development programme using the Chinese Abacus to develop children’s brains.

During the competition, students will get eight minutes to complete 200 sums on their abacus or mentally. More than 180 children from across South Africa and students from Lesotho will participate.

The competition include the following: maze competition; tangrams and twin grams; flash cards (we flash a number on a screen under three seconds after the card was flashed the answer needs to be given by the student); flash sums (we flash sums on a screen and students have to do calculations in their head and under three seconds after the sum was flashed the answer needs to be given by the student); listening (we read out a sum and students have to do calculations in their head and under three seconds after the sum was read the answer needs to be given by the student).

It is a day of fun and enjoyment to crown the UCMAS math champion of 2017.

The event will take place from 8.30am until 5pm at Wynand Marais Community Hall, Olienhout Avenue, Birchleigh.
