Bridge collapse: Department of Labour takes over site

The Department of Labour took over the site on Wednesday afternoon to start its inspection to determine the cause of the collapse of the unused pedestrian bridge in the early hours of August 9.

The site is located on the N3 between the M2 Geldenhuys and N3 Gillooly’s interchanges.

According to a statement issued by SANRAL, the department, the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) and Ekurhuleni DEMS have agreed to procedures for the clearing and preservation of any evidence that can be useful during the investigation.
