Van Riebeeck Park petrol attendant needs your help to trace non-paying driver
'I am liable because I forgot to take payment and the driver has not returned to pay the bill'

A VAN Riebeeck Park petrol attendant is asking a customer who forgot to pay his bill to return and make the payment as the attendant is now liable for it.
Morena Seete informed EXPRESS that on August 5 the driver of a white double-cab Toyota bakkie drove into the Shell Garage atthe corner Elgin and De Wiekus roads, pumped R300 petrol, entered the store, bought some goods and then forgot to pay for the petrol.
“It happened at 9.15am so I thought he would return to pay the bill but he has not done so. I waited but now I see it has been a while. Now I am liable because it is my job to ensure I receive payment before motorists drive away.
“I went to the police to see if they could track the vehicle and find a contact number but I was not successful. They told me the vehicle might belong to a resident of Noordwyk – or the new driver could have bought it from that resident, but they could not find a contact number.
“I am appealing to the community to help me remind this person to come and pay the bill, or that he reads this article and then remembers to come and pay.
“It was a mistake, that is for sure, but I am worried because I know I am liable and will have to pay for it, as I also forgot to remind him to pay as I was engaged with another customer when he walked out of the store,” Seete explained.
