DA retains ward 91 with increased margin

The voter turnout was 32.92 per cent

THE DA has retained its seat in ward 91 following the by-election on Wednesday.

Clr Desmond McKenzie replaces Clr Johann Jordaan, who has resigned as ward councillor.

The DA increased its margin to 70.48 per cent of the votes cast compared to 65.50 per cent in the 2016 municipal elections.

The voter turnout was 32.92 per cent.

Ward 91 includes Norkem Park, Birchleigh North, Esselen Park ext 1 and Witfontein.

The by-election was contested by four parties, the DA, ANC, ACDP and EFF.
