The bodies of a couple were discovered when relatives asked the landlord to break down the couple’s room door in Phomolong Section on Sunday.
According to a neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, the husband, who was a security guard, was found hanging in the house. The woman’s body was lying on the floor with an electric chord tied around her neck.

“The couple had been separated for about four months and the woman left the house. She came back about two weeks ago. We never heard any fighting between the two,” the neigbour told The Tembisan.
Two of the man’s relatives came looking for him, claiming that his phone went on unanswered. They requested the landlord for permission to break down the door. On entering, they discovered the two decomposed bodies. Nobody has a clue as to why this happened,” he added.

A letter was left behind but no one knows the contents thereof as the police did not want to divulge the contents. It is suspected that the woman was strangled on Thursday last week and the man hanged himself on Friday.
“There are people who saw him coming back from work on Friday morning. The man worked night shift,” said the anonymous neighbour.

“Police were called to the scene, forensic pathology services collected the bodies but the details of the apparent suicide murder remain a mystery.”
Capt Bernard Matimulane confirmed the police attended to the matter on the weekend.
“The bodies of the couple were taken to a government mortuary for a postmortem and the circumstances surrounding their deaths are being investigated by Rabie Ridge police,” said Matimulane.
