Woman (53) busted for drunk driving after head-on collision in Norkem Park

Molokomme said the woman joined a list of 18 suspects who were also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol

NORKEM Park SAPS busted a 53-year-old female driver who drove under the influence of alcohol at the scene of a head-on collision on August 26.

Capt Lesibana Molokomme said the woman was arrested on Mooifontein Road in Norkem Park after 8pm, where she had collided with another vehicle.

The woman just so happened to be arrested the very same weekend the police were running an operation to arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol in the Norkem Park SAPS precinct.

Molokomme said the woman joined a list of 18 suspects who were also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol that weekend.

“We want the community at large to take note that drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol will not be tolerated in Norkem Park policing precinct. There are motorists driving with their families on our routes but their lives are under threat when other people decide to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. People need to realise and respect that other people are raising children and such reckless behaviour will be punished,” said Molokomme.
