A man from Bolobedu Village in Limpopo was found guilty of murder in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on September 12.
Tembisa South SAPS communication officer, Capt Neldah Sekgobela, said Tshepiso Mahasha (26) was sentenced to 18 years in jail for stabbing and killing Khutso Mashoboloke John Ntsoane of Esiphethweni Section, Tembisa in March 2016.
It is alleged that on March 5, 2016, at about 8.30pm, the deceased was attacked and stabbed with a sharp object while entering the gate at his house.
The wounded Khutso was transported to Arwyp in Kempton Park where he was certified dead on arrival.
The accused was chased by witnesses but he managed to outrun them.
It was also discovered that the convicted suspect and the deceased were sharing a girlfriend at the time of the incident.
“The docket was investigated thoroughly by one of the dedicated investigating officers at Tembisa South SAPS who made sure that the perpetrator was brought to book,” said Sekgobela.
She said the accused was arrested in his homeland, Limpopo in September 2016.
“On the day of the arrest, the accused tried to escape arrest by assaulting the investigating officer with a beer bottle.”
