Pomona residents clean up their suburb

Residents were joined by ward councillor Pieter Henning

A dog skull and carcass, used needles and bags which may have contained drugs were among the things found during a neighbourhood clean-up.

Early Saturday morning, Pomona residents took to the streets and cleaned up their suburb, because they were frustrated with the amount of litter.

Joined by ward councillor Pieter Henning, residents picked up the rubbish on Kort and Vlei avenues and Vlei Avenue and Methley Street.

“We have found all sorts of things. Even more bizarre objects were found later, including a urinary catheter bag and nappies,” said Chantel Erasmus, one of the residents who assisted with the clean-up.

The rubbish filled up a huge skip, which the metro provided to the community.
