Kempton Park SAPS held their Medal Parade at the NG Kerk in Huggett Street
COMMITMENT and loyalty were honoured at Kempton Park SAPS’ medal parade on Thursday last week
Members of Kempton Park SAPS gathered at the NG Church on Huggett Street to honour fellow officers who have been loyal and dedicated to their service for 10, 20 and 30 years respectively.
W/O Lisa van Vuuren blessed the ceremony with a prayer.
Kempton Park SAPS’ station commander, Brig Samuel Maredi, was among those present to honour police officers. “This is one of the events we need to appreciate because it shows commitment to the force,” said Maredi.
“We need to show the community that despite the negativity we come across, there are members who are loyal to the force and serve with pride.
“The SAPS members who were awarded medals today are exemplary to all of us and have shown they have perseverance which is very important in the force.”
W/O William Monene was the only officer to receive a 30-year loyal service medal.
“It feels good to receive this medal. I am very happy,” said Monene.
“For those still hoping to reach 30 years my advice is to be patient, work hard and don’t be corrupt.”
Other officers were awarded the Centenary medal, who included Lt Col Nonhlanhla Skhosana, who said: “It feels very good and this can’t be taken lightly.
“We are here for the community; we need to serve and protect. You need to love what you do and commit yourself.
“For me, this is a calling and I serve my country with passion and commitment.”
