Helicopter lands at Kempies to airlift critically injured accident victim
The car with three occupants crashed into a tree on Van Riebeeck Road
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was left critically injured on Thursday morning when a car he was a passenger in crashed into a tree on Van Riebeeck Road.
ER24 paramedics, along with the fire services, arrived on the scene at 5.20am where they found the wrecked car in the left-hand lane of the road. A man and woman were walking around on the scene while another man was trapped in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, said Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found the man and woman walking around had escaped serious injury. The man inside the vehicle was in a critical condition, having sustained several serious injuries.

“Fire Services utilised various rescue tools to free the man from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions. Shortly after treatment, the man was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a nearby private hospital for further care.”
The helicopter landed on a rugby field at Hoërskool Kempton Park.
The second male patient was transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment while the woman declined further treatment.
