Help feed a child this festive season
The hampers will be given to the schoolchildren in December before schools close
OPERATION Anti-Freeze will put smiles on many children’s faces this festive season with its feeding scheme, the Christmas Hamper Drive.
The non-profit organisation urges individuals and companies to help make the project possible by donating non-perishable food that will be packed into parcels for various schools across Ekurhuleni.
The targeted number of food packs is 1 200. Five of the schools that will benefit from the project are in Kempton Park.
Hilary Tolmay, project coordinator and fundraiser of the organisation, said people could also donate money to the cause. The charity will ensure that schoolchildren are fed throughout the December holidays.
“The hampers will be given to the schoolchildren in December before schools close for holidays to ensure they have food during the holidays,” she said.
She said many of the children who would benefit from the project came from poor households.
“We can supply boxes to companies and shopping centres that want to get involved. We also need volunteers to assist us in packing the Christmas hampers,” Tolmay added.
Operation Anti-Freeze is located at 41 Trig Road, Pomona.
