A crucial audit report investigating the state of the armory within Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department had been withheld from the oversight committee on community safety.
According to Clr Jaco Terblanche, DA member of the community safety oversight committee, this came after the findings of the report were supposed to be made available during a committee meeting earlier this week as indicated by the Department of Community Safety.
“Written questions were submitted to the MMC for Community Safety, Vivienne Chauke, regarding the current state of the armory at the last council meeting on October 26. She surmised that most of the questions would be addressed in the most recent SAPS audit report which was completed on October 31.
“The DA regards the armory as being crucial to the functioning of the metro police and regards withholding the report as being crucial to understanding the shortcomings of the armory,” Terblanche said.
