Multotec teams dedicate an hour to clean streets
The campaign also roped in the City of Ekurhuleni's Waste Management Department
MULTOTEC staff kick-started the morning of November 17 in Spartan by cleaning Plane, Forge, Steel, Derrick and Newton roads in which some of the company’s departments are located.
The campaign, which was initiated by the company’s chief executive officer Thomas Holtz also roped in the City of Ekurhuleni’s waste management. Holtz said the campaign came after Multotec staff committed to creating a healthier environment for everyone affected.
He said waste posed a health hazard as it got washed down the drinking water system. “We are going to do this regularly.

“We have a lot of people in this area who are putting dirty water into the streets. It is a problem because the rubbish just goes down with the rain and storm water in the streets. We cannot always complain but also need to act against this,” he said.
The clean-up was conducted from 8am to 9am and saw 200 participants join.
Vivian Murray, marketing manager of Multotec, said this clean-up was another way of showing that Multotec was setting an example to other companies in Spartan.
“Multotec is one of the major tenants in Spartan. Because we are conscious of the environment we operate in, we felt it was necessary to get all our staff members into the streets to clean up Spartan.
“Other concerns we have are that there are not enough bins in our area but the council has made a commitment to put more bins on corners, especially in spots where there are street vendors.
“We will be challenging our neighbours to do the same and come help us with the cleaning,” Murray added.
