Billboard leaves metro red-faced – for 24 hours

No additional costs were incurred to correct the mistake

A huge billboard erected on Zuurfontein Road left the City of Ekurhuleni with egg in its face, although it was only for 24 hours.

A motorist spotted the billboard, brandishing the wording “28 clinics providing extended to our people”.

“What is it supposed to say? If it was my face on that board I would fire the person that wrote the copy,” he wrote to Express.

Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the metro, said the correct wording on the billboard was reprinted within 24 hours from the time it was erected.

“No additional costs were incurred as the service provider carried the cost to correct the error. The city approved the correct artwork which read, ‘28 clinics providing extended hours to our people’,” he added.
