Belly dancers host year-end hafla

At the same time it increases energy, improves flexibility and strengthens balance

ALMEYA Belly Dance Studio hosted its year-end function, called a hafla, on November 25.

Almeya has been empowering women to love their bodies and to find their inner goddess.

“Oriental dance is for women of all ages and sizes,” said Dawn Mey.

TERIZA O’Connel, Helena Rademeyer, Pauline Stephens and Wilma Cherlius.

“It is a soft form of exercise and has many benefits. It strengthens bones, boosts cardiovascular health, reduces your risk of dementia and reduces stress and depression.

“At the same time it increases energy, improves flexibility and strengthens balance and endurance.”

Each year the studio chooses a charity to support. This year they decided to make care gift parcels for residents of Allen Park.

Anyone interested in belly dancing can call Mey on 083 354 2830.
