OR Tambo Airport apologises for flooding because of sprinkler valve
'We apologise to passengers and airline partners for the inconvenience'

OR Tambo International Airport has apologised to passengers affected by flooding in its domestic departures area early on Wednesday morning.
The flooding took place in the area around domestic departure gates D2 to D8.
Airport spokesperson Leigh Gunkel-Keuler said a sprinkler valve was activated between 5am and 6am.
“Water seeped through the floor and entered other areas such as airline offices and airline lounges. Airport operations are now normal, although clean-up of the affected areas continues.
“We apologise to passengers and airline partners for the inconvenience. Our operations management is investigating the reason for the activation of the sprinkler system,” said Gunkel-Keuler.
