Ex-offenders show goodwill at Tlama-Tlama Primary School
Ex-offenders and parolees took park in the campaign to ensure that learners started the new school year in a clean, healthy and conducive learning environment
Ex-offenders gathered at Tlama-Tlama Primary School to clean up the school’s premises on January 16.
Ex-offender cum social entrepreneur Solly Mankga said ex-offenders and parolees became part of the project to show that they have gone through a programme of rehabilitation and are now ready to play a meaningful role in their community.
“That is one of the objectives of the project. They also need to prove to the community and their families that indeed they deserve a second chance,” Mankga said.
The head of Randburg Community Corrections, Ramokgolo Kau, was also on hand to support and facilitate the clean-up campaign.
Mankga said 35 ex-offenders and parolees took park in the campaign to ensure that learners started the new school year in a clean, healthy and conducive learning environment.
Mankga said the campaign demonstrated the importance of ex-offenders engaging in community projects like this one as part of their reintegration into society.
