ANC chief whip Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi, together with the executive committee of the ANC caucus, visited all ANC Parliamentary Constituency Office (PCO) study groups in Ekurhuleni on January 29.
Part of the purpose was to engage on various issues related to service delivery.
This was with the sole determination of improving the turnaround performance and monitoring of the city’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) on projects that are currently under way in many of the city’s regions.

As part of the oversight functionality of the ANC ward councillors, their roles were clearly stipulated during the workshop.
“The ANC councillors must play a role in ensuring that progress on tracking projects is monitored and reported back to the office monthly,” explained Dlabathi.
According to Dlabathi, the monthly reports will help to put pressure on the system until issues related to service delivery are resolved.
He further alluded to the fact that ward councillors carry a responsibility to report back to the community they serve, including various community stakeholders, to ensure that communities are conversant with municipal developments in their respective wards.

The purpose of the visit was also to workshop the convener and ward councillors deployed on the functions of the PCOs.
Furthermore, this was a continuation of the programme, as the chief whip and executive committee (exco) have already commenced the programme in August 2017.
The chief whip and exco were scattered in the following PCO study groups:
1) Chief whip Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi, David Bopape Zone, Tsakane CCC.
2) Deputy chief whip Clr Ebrahim Motara, Selope Thema Zone, Springs PCO.
3) Exco member Clr Aletta Mashigo, Diza Putini Zone, Benoni PCO.
