The trial of Lerato Hendrietta Monamudi (34) will resume at the Johannesburg High Court on February 2.
Monamudi was arrested on March 5 last year, the same day her mother, 53-year-old Refiloe Rebecca Monamudi, was found dead at her Mona Street, Glen Marais, home.
Neighbours alerted police because of the noise they had heard coming from the house at about 7am on the Sunday morning. Police arrived, searched the premises and found the mother’s body in the swimming pool.
Upon further investigation, the police discovered that Monamudi had left in her mother’s car, a Mini Cooper, with her four-year-old son. The car was traced to Glen Acres Shopping Centre and she was arrested.
