Parents urged to take part in SGB elections
We need members who understand that the role of SGBs is to promote the best interests of the school - Lesufi.
The three-year term for the current school governing bodies (SGBs) will come to an end on February 28.
With this year’s theme, ‘Be Active, Be Principled, Vote Well’, Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi strongly encourages professionals, parents and guardians with school-going children to participate in the governance of their children’s schools.
“Active participation by skilled professionals will ensure that the principal, educators and other staff of the school receive adequate support in the performance of their professional functions, and encourage other parents, learners, educators and other staff to render voluntary services to the school.
“We also need SGB members who understand that the role of SGBs is to promote the best interests of the school and strive to ensure its development through the provision of quality education for all learners at the school,” Lesufi said.
