According to the Tembisa SAPS communication officer, Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, during the month of July 2016, the deceased and his girlfriend were confronted while inside their room by Makwakwa and his accomplice.
“The victim and the suspects started to fight. The victim was fatally shot by the suspects inside the room. While the suspects were about to escape from the scene, another fight ensued between them. One of the suspects shot his friend in the leg. People in the main house were woken by the sound of the firearm. They gave chase to the limping suspect. Another resident was chasing the suspect with a car and tried to hit him. The suspect shot him in his upper body. The community member was also certified dead on the scene,” explained Ralidzivha.
Ralidzivha said other members of the community managed to apprehend the suspect.
“The police found him on the scene of the second murder. While the police were searching him, he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Makwakwa was arrested. He was linked to another case of house robbery that was committed in April 2016. Makwakwa was also linked to a case of possession of a firearm and ammunition. The case was handled by the Tembisa SAPS Detective Sergeant Malesela Moloantoa,” added Ralidzivha.
He said the Tembisa SAPS would like to congratulate Moloantoa for the good work he has done.
