A man was arrested on Tuesday morning for making and selling drugs in Pomona.
The suspect (38), a Nigerian citizen, was found in a neglected house on Westonia Street, otherwise surrounded by well-kept homes and neat gardens. At one house, children were playing outside.
According to EMPD spokesperson, Kobeli Mokheseng, the metro police’s dog unit came across various drugs, a dagga plant and a room that is suspected to be a drug lab.
“The K9 unit responded after receiving a tip-off. They gained access to the property and discovered what was going on,” Mokheseng added. The suspect was wearing blue and white checkered pajamas when the unit handcuffed him.
Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali thanked the EMPD and the community for keeping the area safe.
“On behalf of the cluster commander, Maj Gen Vincent Lashalane, we want to thank the community for the information they gave to our colleagues from the EMPD. Drugs are one of the key problems in our area. This is a real breakthrough.”
The suspect will soon appear in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges of manufacturing and selling drugs.
