Young motorcyclist airlifted after falling off his bike on the R21

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous injuries

A 21-year-old man was left critically injured on this morning (Thursday) when he apparently fell off his motorbike while driving along the R21 near the Griffiths Road turn-off.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the man lying in the middle of the highway some distance away from his motorbike, Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, said.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a critical condition. Paramedics immediately treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, the man was transported to a nearby fire station where he was later airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter to a private hospital for further care,” Meiring added.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
