WATCH: Roses are red, violets are blue, Elrida celebrated Valentine’s too

Mr and Ms Valentine were also crowned.

Roses are red, violets are blue, Kemptonians celebrated Valentine’s Day and Elrida Pre-Primary did too.

Red and white balloons welcomed the Esther Park learners as they arrived at school on Wednesday morning. The bubbling children, aged between two and six, were all dressed in red and white.

According to principal Delien van Staden it is important that the children have one day of fun each term. “It is important for the children to have fun, and also to learn about love,” she said.

And what fun they had! The children all modelled their red and white ensembles for their teachers, leading to the crowning of a Mr and Miss Valentine. The contestants were too cute for the judge to choose only two and two pairs of winners were ultimately chosen.

Little Joyce Nkabinde (3), dressed in a white dress and pink ballet pumps, won the junior title of the girls. Her right-hand man Reitumetse Boya (4), donning a red shirt and white sneakers, won out of the boys.

Zinhle Cohane (5), with bright red sneakers and a white tutu, was crowned Miss Valentine of the seniors and Amogelang Motloung (5), wearing red shorts and a white t-shirt, Mr Valentine. Both pairs received dolls and toy trucks as their prize.

After their impromptu modelling event, the children danced to music, ate hamburgers and enjoyed ice cream on the sunny day of love.
