Crime operation yields results

Police are appealing to members of the community to report any criminality in the area

Members of the Ekurhuleni North cluster, Public Order Policing Springs, Tactical Response team, the K9 Dog Unit and the Explosives Unit held a crime operation on February 16.

Tembisa South SAPS communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela said it took place from 12.30am until 4am in order to ensure the safety of the citizens and to root out criminals in the area.

“Eighty police officers raided Ehlanzeni and NCP hostels to search for unlicensed firearms, dangerous weapons, stolen property, dagga and drugs. One suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and thirteen rounds of ammunition while another one was arrested for possession of dagga.

Two pellet guns and a handgun with 20 rounds of ammunition were also confiscated from those hostels,” said Captain Sekgobela.
