Young local entrepreneur is a gift of giving

Tembisa Braai Day will be held in April to raise funds

CHARITY Raselomane (30) takes the meaning of her name to heart because this Norkem Park resident aims to donate to children in orphanages across parts of Gauteng.

But first, she will extend her goodwill to children in Kempton Park, Benoni and Tembisa.

Raselomane has partnered with small local businesses to donate blankets and clothes to needy children for winter.

“I don’t want to give to orphanages that are well-known. I want to give to an orphanage that really needs the help,” Raselomane said.

She said even though she had received help from small businesses, more help from others woud be welcomed as she would not be able to embark on the cause on her own.

Hopefully an estimated R50 000 will be raised through the Tembisa Braai Day. Families are invited to enjoy a picnic in Moriting Park.

“The aim of this day is to raise funds by charging an entrance fee of R60 for adults and R40 for children.

“People can bring their own picnic baskets and their own braai stands. We will also be having jumping castles and other entertainment activities for children.”

Asked what inspired the project, Raselomane said she had always been a person who gave and had grown to like sharing over time.

“People who can afford certain things are always comfortable during winter, for example, we can keep warm. We enjoy these luxuries. I think those who are needy should benefit from us.”

She said even though she might not be able to help everyone, she believes the bit she is doing will go a long way to better the lives of those she can help.

“For now, I just want to start where I come from. I aim to do this annually and over time I want to expand the project across Gauteng,” she said.

The Tembisa Braai Day will be held on April 14 in Moriting Park, Tembisa, from 12pm to 5pm.
