An argument over a wheelbarrow led to the arrest of a Birchleigh man (48) on Tuesday night after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a colleague.
The suspect will face charges for pointing a firearm, as well as being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, said Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS.
Molokomme said the complainant took the police to a house on Matumi Street around 9.40pm.
The complainant alleged the suspect demanded him to return the wheelbarrow he had borrowed. He added that he promised to return it the following day.
The suspect then apparently called the complainant into the house, saying he wanted to show him how to run a business.
“Inside the house, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the complainant. The complainant pleaded with him not to kill him,” Molokomme added.
The suspect then put the firearm away and the complainant made a run for it and called the police.
Upon arrival, the police found the suspect was in possession of a 9mm Star with its serial number filed off, and one live round of ammunition but no magazine.
