Birchleigh resident gets brand new car for only R35
‘It took a week for them to convince me I really did win a car.'
Imagine getting an unexpected call and finding out you have won a new car just because you used your bank’s banking app.
That is exactly what happened to Birchleigh’s Steven Oberholzer, who won a brand new Polo Vivo courtesy of Capitec Bank and MTN, through the MTN Win-Win nationwide competition.
The celebratory handover of the keys took place at Festival Mall on February 23. Oberholzer was automatically entered into the competition when he purchased an MTN data voucher using his Capitec app.
Oberholzer was completely surprised by his win and didn’t believe it at first. “I purchased MTN data through the Capitec Bank App and then a few days later I received a call informing me I am a winner of a car but because there are a lot of scams, I was sceptical at first.
“It took a week and a few calls for me to be convinced it was real. Until today I still couldn’t believe it. It really is a life-changing experience for me and could not have happened at a better time. I am stoked and thank God because He saw I was struggling and borrowing my dad’s car. I often use my app for data purchases and banking but never did I imagine being rewarded like this for it.”
Steve shared with Express this is his first official car.
Pambili Booi, operations manager at Capitec Bank, had the honour of handing over the keys to Oberholzer.
