Women observe reproductive month

Women talk sexual issues and reproductive health.

Pink Pepper Foundation hosted a sexual and reproduction health workshop as part of Reproductive Health Month at the Tembisa Child & Welfare Society. More than fifty young people came to learn about critical health issues and listened to speakers from different organisations on February 24.

Pink Pepper Foundation’s co-founder Tsholofelo ‘Tsolo’ Rathumbu said the event was open to anyone as invitations were extended through social media and word of mouth.

“We had specialists within the health sector giving knowledge and attendees got guidance from various motivational speakers.

“We discussed issues like sexual health, family planning, infertility, abortion, personal hygiene and abstinence.

“We have realised that there is a socio-economic issue that we are currently facing where young girls are falling pregnant prematurely, so basically we wanted to educate them on how they can prevent this and protect themselves. We assisted women who are struggling with infertility by bringing in an expert from the Vitalab fertility facility that spoke about women struggling in conceiving,” said Tsolo.

She said their organisation is a non-profit organisation that started in 2013 to empower females, young and old, with the necessary tools to conquer the world. Their slogan is “Making a difference, one girl at a time”.

“We pride ourselves on creating platforms that empower women and girls spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. We do this through skills development training, career guidance, hygiene drives, sexual health awareness and we also run a matric dance drive.”
