Tembisa High School alumni provide words of wisdom

Tembisa high school learners get motivated by former matriculants of the school.

Tembisa High School alumni and other former learners held a motivational hour with learners to inspire them to work harder.

Learners gathered at the school hall on February 22 to be empowered during the motivation hour.

Tsietsi Nkosi, after realising that there is an eight per cent drop in the pass rate at the school, came up with the idea of motivating matriculants and thought former learners of the school should address the matter.

Tsietsi and his colleagues go by the name of Golden Peers under the banner of Tembisa High Alumni Motivational Hour. They are supported by Columba Leadership that develops networks of ethical young leaders powered by values.

“We are coming back not because we are better or that we got distinctions but we felt a little talk as peers will help. There are eight of us doing the programme through Columba Leadership.

“We feel very privileged to address the learners and we felt they have taken so much from the talk which is good for their future,” said Tsietsi.

He said as leaners are going to start their formal assessments the information they received is going to help them with their future.

“They have listened to their peers who are doing what they will have to do after high school.

“We have brought in speakers who went to university and those who haven’t.

“We feel they now know where exactly they are supposed to be in life and what the options are after high school.”

Tsietsi said they are grateful to Columba Leadership, who assisted with getting permission to host the talks at the school.

He added the response from schools is very positive and they hope to take the programme to other Tembisa schools.
