Beautiful butterflies in the spotlight at Modderfontein

The presentation will follow the society’ annual general meeting

Modderfontein Conservation Society and the Lepidopterists’ Society of Africa (LepSoc Africa) have joined forces in March to present an enthralling presentation on “Our Wonderful World of Butterflies”.

The presentation will follow the society’s annual general meeting which begins in Modderfontein Town Hall at 1 Casino Road at 7.30pm on March 15.

Chairman of LepSoc Africa Jeremy Dobson will be the speaker. His talk will highlight the fascinating world of Afrotropical butterflies and moths and dispel the myth that butterfly enthusiasts are just a weird species who gambol around the veld waving nets in wild abandon.

He’ll talk on various species, their habits and habitats and the extensive work LepSoc Africa undertakes in the study and conservation of butterflies.

Visitors are welcome to attend this meeting, learn about the society and enjoy the colourful photo presentation. An entrance fee of R30 is charged to help cover expenses. For more information call Janet Brodrick on 011 686 1930 or 072 679 6461.
