Grandmother appeals for information about her grandson’s mother

She does not know her name, as the two never met

The family of Moriri Maseaka (5) from Tembisa appeals to anyone with information about the boy’s mother to come forward.

According to Moriri’s grandmother, whose surname is also Maseaka, she has taken care of him since he was six months old. This, after his father died in the Marikana killings in 2012.

Moriri’s grandmother believes her son met Moriri’s mother in Rustenburg whilst working in the mine. However, she does not know her name, as the two never met.

“My grandson was left with my son by his mother,” she said. “After my son died, I took care of Moriri.”

Unfortunately, the doting grandmother does not have her grandson’s birth certificate. Without it, Moriri will not be able to attend school. Anyone with information is urged to come forward. Readers can call Tembisa Child Welfare at 081 702 6905 or email them at temwelfare@gmail.com.
