#ThrowBackThursday: Alleged would-be ATM scammers caught out at Cavendish Glen
Upon further investigation it was found that the KIA the men were travelling in was a rented car
Today, exactly a year ago, this article was the trending story in Kempton Park:
THREE would-be ATM scammers who attempted to con a woman at Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre were caught out on Wednesday last week.
The three men were stopped in their tracks when a client called MML after realising something fishy was going on.

According to MML reaction officer Ryno Opperman, the client claimed he saw one of the suspects approach an FNB ATM and stood there doing something for a short while. He then walked off.
“Then a woman approached the ATM. The same man went up to her and said something. She told a security guard and the three men went away,” Opperman said.
In the meanwhile, Opperman and his partner, Johan Claassen, had received a call about something suspicious happening at the ATM.
The three guys left the shopping centre in a dark blue/grey KIA Rio and the two officers followed them.

“We chased after them and with the help of Marius van Wyk from SSS Security we managed to stop the suspects at the corner of Monument and Highveld roads. The police arrived at the scene and took the suspects away.”
Upon further investigations it was found that the KIA the men were travelling in was a rented car.
Kempton police spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said they received no such case at the station.
He advised that whenever private security companies made an arrest, to follow through with the case by getting names of arresting officers as well as getting case numbers as a reference that a case was indeed opened.
