The strike action at the Kempton Park waste removal depot has caused a lot of confusion and frustration among residents.
The go-slow strike saw certain areas partially serviced while others were not serviced at all.
Despite the strike, residents are encouraged to still put out their wheelie bins on the allocated days.
Express managed to get hold of Ald André du Plessis, DA shadow MMC for environmental development, with hopes of getting clarity on the way forward.
“Residents can put out their wheelie bins as the department is working on clearing the backlog over the weekend,” said Du Plessis.
According to a programme, which is in Kempton Express’ possession, the clearing of the backlog started on Thursday (March 15) when Tuesday’s areas were completed and a start was made with Wednesday’s areas.
The programme also stipulates that today (Friday) will see Wednesday’s outstanding areas being completed and gradually starting with Thursday’s areas.
Saturday (March 17) will see the completion of Thursday’s outstanding areas and Friday’s.
The anticipated time of departure for Saturday is 7.30am so residents are advised to put out their wheelie bins early on Saturday morning.
