As part of their continued efforts to give service delivery reports to the communities of Ekurhuleni, the ANC Chief Whip Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi led the City’s ANC Caucus to Ward 12 and 14 in Tembisa last week Monday and Tuesday.
An estimated 900 people attended the public meetings.
“It is important that we as councillors interact with the members of communities about the government programmes. Especially on the commitments we as an ANC led government have made,” Dlabathi said.
Dlabathi, Masina and ward councillor Nomusa Mathebula, together with other ward councillors, also conducted a door-to-door visit in Ward 14 Esiphethweni Phase 3, encouraging the residents to register to vote.
During a walkabout in the area, the residents also expressed their gratitude on a successful re-blocking programme with the improvement seen in their area.
Re-blocking will ensure that informal settlements are accessible through roads grading and that essential services such as electricity and waste services are provided.
“We are excited that residents are starting to see the commitments we have made coming into effect. When we came into office in 2016, we committed to re-blocking and electrifying informal settlements in Ekurhuleni,” Masina said.
On March 9, Siyaqhuba Service Delivery programme and the Taking Caucus To The People programme further adopted three houses as part of the Nelson Mandela Legacy.
