Public participation meeting to focus on metro’s IDP
East Rand AfriForum branches involved in revision of municipal IDP
AfriForum’s East Rand branches held a workshop in Kempton Park on March 13.
The workshop was on the participation in the revision process of the metro’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) that will take place during March and April.
The branches that participated include Kempton Park, Alberton, Benoni, Edenvale, Germiston and Springs.
This workshop focused specifically on the participation of AfriForum’s branch management teams in the IDP processes, as well as how to compile and refine commentary thereon.
The teams will focus on municipal ordinances, the municipal Spatial Development Framework (SDF) and the zoning of various open spaces.
“It is of cardinal importance that the public takes note of the IDP process and participate in the public meetings that will be held in April. We must have input in the allocation of resources and service delivery, as well as what the metro plans for each neighbourhood,” said Marie Naude, AfriForum’s regional coordinator for the East Rand.
Each area will have a meeting and the public participation meeting in Kempton Park will be held at Kempton Park City Hall on April 11 at 6pm.
Ekurhuleni residents are encouraged to take part in these meetings and become involved with their nearest AfriForum branch.
