Avion bowlers get onto the greens for a good cause
Avion Park Bowling Club hosted a fundraising day for Life Link Pregnancy Crisis Centre.
The cold and wet weather on Saturday last week failed to dampen the spirits of bowlers and supporters who attended Avion Park Bowling Club’s fundraising day.
The event was aimed at raising funds for Life Link Pregnancy Crisis Centre.
Bowlers were seen on the greens showcasing their talents for the event, while raffles and auctions were held inside the clubhouse.
“SAB and Dave Jameson sponsored the prizes for the bowlers and we had people from the club and others from outside donating money, baby clothes and other baby items towards the initiative. We appreciate it,” said event organiser Desiree Dickson.

“We just wanted to do something for the centre to help them continue with the great work they do for the community.”
Founder and centre director Sharon Rushton said the centre provides positive alternatives to abortion and abandonment through counselling and care,” said Rushton.
“We are extremely grateful for this initiative and appreciate that the community supports our project. A big thank you to Dickson who worked very hard to prepare this event.
“We are a non-profit organisation that relies solely on donations. Our services are free so it is very important to get such donations. We are in need of assistance and therefore welcome new or second-hand baby clothes. We have to cover our running costs as well, so we appreciate any form of donation.”
Dickson also added, “This day wouldn’t have been a success without the help of our sponsors or the donations. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes, gifts, money and time towards this initiative – we appreciate your efforts.”
