Van Riebeeck Park SCF holds AGM

Committee positions available are chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary and treasurer.

It has been two years since the last annual general meeting (AGM) of the Van Riebeeck Park Sector Community Forum (SCF) and to ensure that the rules and regulations are followed, the AGM this year will bring in a new management committee.

The positions may run for five years but this is on condition that the AGM is run every year.

“These are voluntary positions, the person taking on this challenge does not get paid. The committee, who are dealing with this now, are helpful people, have the community at heart and are willing to go that extra mile,” said Ann Russell, SCF treasurer.

“We have said many times before, if every male of 18 to 60 years old patrolled on foot or by car, we would have an area which would cover at least 60 per cent of the daytime hours.

“We live in a ‘have it all‘ world. Anything you want is a click away, pay by card, it is delivered within the next few days. Where is the accomplishment with the required sacrifice and delayed gratification? Everything is too easy. Give yourself a challenge, decide to do something to help your neighbour, no matter who they may be,” Russell added.

“The patrollers do not get paid for their services. They are like-minded individuals who want to help the community. If we can work together as a team, we can keep Van Riebeeck Park safe,” she added.

Committee positions available are chairperson, vice-chairperson, secretary and treasurer.

“If you live in Van Riebeeck Park you can vote a resident in, but that person must be registered on our database.”

The AGM will take place on April 14 at Casa Caritas at 2pm.
