Bogner Motor City Workshop helps MES to feed the hungry

From March 2017 to February 2018, 6 599 meals were served to 359 people.

MES Kempton Park opens its doors to almost 50 homeless and unemployed people every night and provides meals for R5 every weekday at 11am.

Andrea Bogner, the owner of Bogner Motor City Workshop in Kempton Park, says the shelter does amazing work and as a small business in the area saw an opportunity to provide support.

“We have been donating vegetables to the MES community kitchen for the past two and a half years. These vegetables go towards the meals that are prepared daily,” she says.

From March 2017 to February 2018, 6 599 meals were served to 359 people.

In December, using money donated by the staff from Bogner Motors, basic groceries were bought and put into hampers for the people at MES.

“I have a passion for uplifting people. MES is a place that provides shelter to people in tough or dire life situations. I give motivational and uplifting talks to people like this to help change their mindset and thinking.

“Even though circumstances and, in most cases, wrong choices got them where they are today, I try to uplift their spirits. They are in fact great people with lots of light in them, they just need guidance and someone to help them to trust and love again,” says Bogner.

MES Kempton Park has a needs list for this year which is available on request.

“I really encourage other businesses, especially those in the Kempton Park area, to have a look at this list and see where you can get involved.

“They are looking for funds to upgrade their after-school programme facilities, including a play area for the kids. They also need support for their Grow Job Rehabilitation Project, food for the community kitchen, clothing and more. This is a really worthwhile community initiative to support,” she concludes.
